The deep ruby/purple colored Barbera d'Alba Pianromualdo reveals some evidence of new wood barrels. A modern-styled effort, it offers a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, pain grille, and spice box. Medium body, sweet tannin, and decent acidity.

A medium ruby color along with a classic nose of licorice, cedar, dried cherries and herbs.  Soft, medium-bodied flavors caress the palate, and there is enough acidity for balance.  With character and soul, it is a delicious, up-front Nebbiolo for uncritical bistro-style drinking.

The outstanding aromatics are followed by a wine with serious richness, medium to full body, a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, and alcohol, and a long finish.
